Prof. dr. Ponco Birowo, Sp.U(K), Ph.D menyelesaikan pendidikan dokter umum dari Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia pada tahun 1997. Beliau kemudian melanjutkan pendidikannya di Program Pendidikan Dokter Spesialis (PPDS) Urologi dan mendapatkan gelar Spesialis Urologi pada tahun 2005 dan meraih gelar Ph.D setelah menyelesaikan pendidikan Doktoralnya di Hannover Medical School, Jerman, pada tahun 2009.
