FKUI Welcomed Delegates from Vrije Universiteit, Netherlands

Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (FKUI) welcomed a delegation from the Vrije University (VU) Amsterdam, Netherlands and the Vrije University Medical Center (VUMC) on Tuesday (6/10) at Dean’s Meeting Room-FKUI Salemba, Jakarta. Delegation was received by the Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs FKUI, Prof. dr. Pratiwi Pujilestari Sudarmono, Ph.D, SpMK(K) which was accompanied by dr. Ardi Findyartini, Ph.D. (Head of Medical Education Unit); dr. Fitri Octaviana, SpS, M.Pd. Ked (Undergraduate Coordinator Program, Department of Neurology FKUI-RSCM); dr. Irma Bernadette, SpKK (Executive Officer of Elective Module); dr. July Kumalawati, DMM., SpPK (K) (Vice-Coordinator of e-learning) and Desak Gede Budi Krisnamurti, S.Farm, Apt (Undergraduate Coordinator Program, Department of Medical Pharmacy FKUI).

The delegation of VU & VUMC consisted of Prof. Jan Passchier(Academic Director for Indonesia); Esther den Hartog (Programme Manager VU- Indonesia); Mariette Diderich (Director of the International Office VUMC); Gerald Pals, Ph.D (Head of Connective Tissue Research); Monique van Reij (Regional Coordinator, International Office); Karin Reefman (Medical Coordinator Master’s Program) and WimPolderman (Academic Director VU-Indonesia). The main purpose was to explore the possibility of cooperation in the field of education, particularly related to student exchange programs, e-learning program, and the elective posting program held by FKUI.

Besides the discussion, the delegation VU & VUMC also was invited to a tour of the facilities of clinical education at the FKUI-RSCM. Among the facilities visited were the facilities in the Department of Neurology FKUI-RSCM and Department of Surgery FKUI-RSCM. During the visit to the Department of Surgery FKUI-RSCM, the delegation was accompanied by acting Undergraduate Coordinator Program, Department of Surgery FKUI-RSCM, dr. Siti Handayani, Sp.BP.

This meeting was expected to be a good means to seek the educational opportunities and foster cooperation for researchers between FKUI with various leading universities in the Netherlands. Expanding access to education and research will certainly be good for medical education and research in the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia in future. (Public Relations FKUI -Mel/Die)
