Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (FKUI) welcomed ten students from Shiga University of Medical Science (SUMS), Japan, on Friday (27/3). The visit was conducted in order to have an observation about public health in Indonesia. During their visit, the students came to look up several departments and service units at RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo, one of teaching hospital of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia.
Indah Susanti, executive officer of the International Relations Office FKUI, said this was their first visit to FKUI. “They usually come here to conduct our elective posting program. But this time, they visited FKUI to see the public health activities in Indonesia, “said Indah. The ten students from SUMS, Japan are majoring in general medicine and nursing. During the visit, they were accompanied by two students of FKUI, named RadhianAmandito(Regular 2010) and Glenn AdiputeraTandian (International Class 2008).
Natsuki Hashiba, the group leader, said that they were very happy to have an opportunity to visit FKUI-RSCM. She earned a lot of new experience that can not obtained in Japan, specifically about obstetrics and gynecology unit, emergency department and child health unit. They were impressed by the friendliness of the doctors, nurses and staff. Natsuki also expressed her hope to be back again. “If we can get another chance to come back here, it would be fun for us to learn more, or even also share with friends here,” she said.
This visit was expected to extend its cooperation and fostering good relations between the Faculty of Medicine and SUMS, and with other leading universities in Japan. This cooperation certainly will be good for medical education at FKUI, and furthermore for medical education in Indonesia. (Public Relations FKUI – Mel/Die)
