Dr. drs. Kusmardi, MS menamatkan pendidikan S1 Biologi Fmipa di Universitas Indonesia tahun 1988. Pada tahun 1999 beliau mendapatkan gelar Magister Ilmu Biomedik dari Universitas Indonesia, kemudian pada tahun 2014 beliau berhasil memperoleh gelar Doktor atau S3 Program Studi Ilmu Biomedis Hewan.

Dr. drs. Kusmardi, MS berstatus kepegawaian PNS UI dengan jabatan fungsional saat ini adalah Lektor Kepala. Beliau tercatat sebagai staf Biomedik di Departemen Patologi Anatomik FKUI-RSCM.
