Within the years of 2017-2021, FKUI has continues the effort to manange waste accordingly. Our effort in recyling plastic and paper waste has created a great impact to the sustainbilty of materials. In accordance to sustainibility, we have also reduced our plastic and paper waste by more than 80% within the 2018-2020. Senisitive and toxic medical and non-medical materials are constantly monitored and disposed quarterly with the collaboration of third party institution. We have also connected clean potable pipe water from PAM to IMERI by 2019 and recycle water waste trought our sewage treatment plant.

14.4.1 Water discharge guidelines and standards
Have water quality standards and guidelines for water discharges (to uphold water quality in order to protect ecosystems, wildlife, and human health and welfare)
The FKUI implemented policies to adjust water discharge guidelines and standards to ensure the water quality to preserve local ecosystems, wildlife, and human health and welfare:
-
-
- Clean water delivery system from the Jakarta Government Clean Water system (PAM) has been implemented to the whole FKUI building, which includes the IMERI building; this has been implemented since 2019.
- The liquid waste from FKUI surrounding (toilet, kitchen) was managed using Sewage Treatment Plan (STP); this liquid waste pooled in contact tank and used as recycled water. The following recycling process is the water treatment plant (WTP), which recycles the pooled liquid waste in Ground Water Plant (GWP), pumps the recycled water to the roof tank, and is further used for toilet flush water across the toilet the building.
- The water conservation strategies across the campus include 1. Implementation of Infiltration wells across the campus, 2. Implementation of groundwater tank (hydrant, recycle, and clean water) across the campus.

14.4.2 Action plan to reducing plastic waste
Have an action plan in place to reduce plastic waste on campus
FKUI delivers policies to reduce plastic waste on campus: 1. Our Cleaning Service employees have actively separated plastic and paper waste since 2018.2. The FKUI has had a solid policy for all of its staff to reduce plastic and paper waster since 2018 actively. It successfully reduced the monthly plastic/paper usage from 221 kg in January 2018 to 25 kg in September 2020. (more than 90% reduction).

14.4.3 Reducing marine pollution (policy)
Have a policy on preventing and reducing marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities
The FKUI clean water policies, water recycling activities, and policies to reduce plastic and papers indirectly reduce marine pollution. Participating in the prevention of corruption in the oceans, FKUI made regulations on green campuses. There is a commitment to always be in line with the 17 points of Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs). As for the in-campus policies, FKUI makes sure that the quality of water coming from the campus will not become a new problem or pollutant for the surrounding area including marine lifes.
