Goverment Starts Vaccine Booster Drive for Health Workers

The Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia (FMUI) has been actively contributing to the collective effort against the COVID-19 pandemic. We have sent our faculty members and residents to work in the frontline defense from the beginning of this outbreak. They are working very hard to treat patients, both suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 patients.

Dean of FMUI, Prof. Dr. dr. Ari Fahrial Syam, SpPD-KGEH, MMB, said “As part of FKUI’s commitment to protect our health workers, in July 2021 FKUI sent a recommendation to the government to immediately provide a third booster as a better protection for health workers, especially those from FKUI.”

This proposal was then approved and as a first step 50 professors and the FMUI frontline medical team received the booster on Friday, July 16, 2021 at RSCM Kencana, Jakarta. This event was also attended by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, CHFC, CL and Vice Minister of Health dr. Dante Saksono Herbuwono, SpPD-KEMD, Ph.D. The event was proclaimed as the symbol of the beginning of the booster vaccine injection national program for health workers in Indonesia.

The Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia said the first booster vaccination receivers were senior professors from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia as it is expected to be followed by other health workers without hesitation.
