Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology FKUI was pioneered by the late Prof. Dr. Sarwono Prawirohardjo. He graduated as an obstetrician/gynecologist in 1940.  In 1943 he started lay down the foundation of obstetrics and gynecology education for specialist in Indonesia with the help of dr. Goelam, dr. Iman Sudjudi dan dr. Hanifa Wiknjosastro. At that time, the department focused on activities in polyclinic, wards, birthing rooms, operating chambers, as well on doing rounds twice a week. Routine conference twice a week as well as night shift were neatly organized. Up to 2009, 532 obstetrics/gynecologists have graduated from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology FKUI.

By 2012, Departement of Obstetrics and Gynecology FKUI is expected to have become the best Collegium of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Asia Pacific region that produces high quality doctors, specialists, and consultants. In order to achieve that, the department attempts to improve educational management system to fulfill Indonesia’s demand in specialists and consultants. In addition, as to improve our professionalism, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology FKUI aims to expand its network and strategic partnership by teaming up with national, regional, and international stake holders. Continuous evaluation on the learning process of doctors, specialists, and consultants is needed to further improve the quality of our graduates.

Currently, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology consists of 7 divisions:
