Keeping Its World Ranking, FKUI is Still the Best in Indonesia

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (FKUI) is again becoming the best Faculty of Medicine in Indonesia in the medical study category. FKUI is the only medical faculty from Indonesia which is ranked 251-300 in the world on the ranking list of The Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS WUR) by Subject, which can be seen on the link https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/university subject-rankings/2021/medicine

It is obviously an honor because FKUI has been able to maintain this ranking at the national level for three consecutive years. The results of this ranking prove that FKUI is considered capable of maintaining and improving excellent performance in its field. Currently the achievement of international scientific articles recorded in Scopus also continues to increase from only 400 publications in 2017 to nearly 900 publications by the end of 2020. The achievement of this number of international publications is the highest in Indonesia and is even above universities from other countries such as Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

FKUI’s joining into the 251-300 world rankings, and ranked 6-7 in ASEAN with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, has again put this well-known medical faculty in Indonesia to be the best in Indonesia and respected in ASEAN. At the ASEAN level, FKUI and UKM are under the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Mahidol University, Universiti Malaya, and Chulalongkorn University.

In addition, FKUI’s position is equivalent to that of medical faculties from other prestigious universities in Asia such as the University of Tsukuba in Japan, Kaoshiung Medical University in Taiwan, and is above Kobe University in Japan, Istanbul University in Turkey, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), University Sains Malaysia (USM), and University of The Philippine in the Philippines.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject is based on an assessment of citation, productivity, research impact (h-index), and the results of a global survey conducted on graduate’s users and academics.

At the university level in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021, the University of Indonesia (UI) has successfully listed 12 fields of study in the world rankings. Among the 12 fields of study, four fields make UI the best university in Indonesia: Medicine, Law and Legal Studies, Politics, and Modern Languages.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject annually ranks universities in the world. This ranking can help public to identify the leading universities in a particular cluster or field of study.
