FMUI Student Held Social Service Event in Banten

As a form of a social service, FMUI students held a free mass treatment in Harjawana, Lebak, Banten.

This event was held on Friday, June 21st 2019 as a collaboration between Faculty of Medicine University of Indonesia Student Body (BEM IKM FKUI) and Faculty of Technique University of Indonesia Student Body (BEM FTUI).

The local residents looked enthusiastic as the mass treatment was running, they came early in the morning to register, and a total of 91 people registered for the mass treatment.

The event consists of screening, examination, and drug prescription. In the event, 23 FMUI students participated, and also doctors who are FMUI alumnus.

“When the registrant came, they receive queue number. Then, when their number was called, the did a screening for blood pressure, body weight, and body height” said Elsa Hedia, the chairman of the event “After that they go to the examination table to be examined by doctors. In this event we had 5 doctors who are FMUI alumnus, accompanied by internal medicine and pediatric residents. After the examination they can pick up the drugs they were prescribed. We also have a pharmacy installment with drugs we brought along from Jakarta.”

On the other hand, Nico Gamalliel, Coordinator of Social and Politics BEM IKM FMUI, said to FMUI public relation team that this event won’t be possible without the collaboration between BEM IKM FKUI and many other parties, including BEM FTUI and local residents.

“We are very happy to do this meaningful program. And to be able to collaborate with the local residents, to give back to them,” Nico said

This social service event is a form of devotion from FMUI students to the community. In here they can also learn about empathy and to see real problems happening in the community.
