FMUI held Acupressure Training to Relieve Headache

FMUI teachers who are parts of Community Service of Medical Acupuncture Specialty Program, held an acupressure training to relieve headache on Saturday July 20th 2019 in Rumah Quran Violet Indonesia, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta.

This community service was chaired by dr. Sri Wahdini, M. Biomed, SpAk, and involved 60 participants and 10 tutors who are medical acupuncture specialists. This program was a form of application of acupuncture science to solve real life problems among the society. The training hopefully can change people’s habit to consume drugs when they have headache.

Headache is a symptom commonly felt by people. One of the ways to relieve the pain is by doing acupressure. Acupressure is a way to trigger certain acupuncture points by massaging or putting pressure. If done the right way, and on the right location, it can give an effect comparable to drugs. The benefit of acupressure is it can be done anywhere by anyone, for themselves or for others.

“Before we teach the technique of acupressure, we educate the participants on how headache usually occurs, the causes, the types of headaches, and life style to prevent it” said dr. Sri Wahdini “when teaching about acupressure technique, we teach them to do acupressure with regard to its hygiene, infection prevention, and selection of points to trigger”.

This activity was supported by Research and Community Service Directory (DRPM) UI through community service grant, and in partnership with RQV Indonesia.

Participants in this event hopefully can use their skills to help themselves or other people. The committee hope that this event can be held routinely because there are many acupressure tricks and techniques to teach the public.
