Elisa Jonathan won the 1st runner up Miss Indonesia 2019

Elisa Jonathan, FMUI International student class of 2017, won the 1st Runner Up Miss Indonesia 2019. The title was given during the coronation of Miss Indonesia 2019 on Wednesday (15/2/2019) at MNC Studio, Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta. Related with her achievement, she shared her stories about her persistence and optimism in order to accomplish ideas and dreams in the future.

Miss Indonesia 2019 is an event organized by RCTI and the Miss Indonesia Foundation which has been held for the 15th times. This event aims to look for Indonesian women who has the beauty with a purpose. Not only beautiful and smart, they must also be able to make a positive contribution to the society and environment. In the process, there were a series of auditions held in several major cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Makassar, Semarang, Medan and Samarinda.

Contestants selected from 34 provinces should followed a series of quarantine stages. At the performance, Elisa was a representative of Banten Province. During the quarantine period, the participants were given a series of seminar or workshop regarding to have not only have a beautiful face, but also meet the “MISS” criteria; Manner, Impressive, Smart, and Social.

During the debriefing, the contestant learnt about public speaking, character building, manner, beauty class and modelling. Participants were also selected and assessed through Fast Track in the category which are Beauty with A Purpose, Nature and Beauty Fashion, Sport Competition, Talent Show, Catwalk, and Social Media.

Before joined Miss Indonesia 2019, Elisa have won the 1st runner up for Gadis Sampul in 2014. In the same year, she also joined the flag raisers team from DKI Jakarta Province.

As a medical student which has a lot of activities, she should have a good time management. However, she mentioned that her medical school is always become her 1st priority. “I have a priority scale in my life. The 1st one is my medical school, then my work and business. I always keep in mind about it.” Explained Elisa, who is also have a business in culinary and cosmetics.

When asked about her reasons and motivations to joined the 2019 Miss Indonesia contest, Elisa said that his participation in the contest was expected to support his dream to become a plastic surgeon in the future. “I want to continue my education as a plastic surgeon because I want to help baby with cleft lip, cancer patients and accident victims who needs a repair. However, plastic surgery specialists only accept a small number of students. Thus, I must be truly excellent, both academically and non-academically. Following this contest is my opportunity to create achievements in the non-academic field, “Elisa explained.

Not only that, Elisa also dreams to have a social foundation that can help others in need. “So, after Miss Indonesia, my priority is to graduate from medical education. Then, I will enroll in a plastic surgery specialist. After graduating from my residency, I will work and start preparing to make the foundation. I hope when I get older I will work not only for the money. I want to live well enough and then start a social work, “conclude this student who was born on October 20, 1998.

‘No Sacrifice, No Victory’, is the motto she upholds as a motivation in life. “Nothing great was ever accomplished without making sacrifices. Nothing is free, and nothing comes suddenly. We should keep trying and working hard to achieve our dreams in life, “he said while closing the interview session.

Another achievement has been made by a FMUI student in national event. Elisa’s success reveal that FMUI’s student is not only achieve academic-related things, but also non-academic. Elisa, is a girl who is not only beautiful and smart, but also kind and persistent in reaching her dreams. Hopefully Elisa’s victory can be an inspiration for many young people in Indonesia, especially FMUI students to continue creating great achievements.
