Research Centers

Six Integrated Research and Service Centers

Students of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia come from all parts of Indonesia and overseas. The establishment of six integrated research and service centers are to respond to this trust.

The six integrated research and service centers not only conduct international-scale research, but also contribute in determining research direction in the respective fields in Indonesia as well as give service to the public according to evidence-based medicine. The services offered include reproduction healthcare and infertility, stem cell technology, transfusion medicine, virology & cancer pathobiology, education service and drug review. FKUI commits to continue various researches up to the functional application stage to the end-user of medicine and healthcare service.

With some pioneers as the member of the centers, these research and service centers are developed to nurture students to be experts and innovators in the respective fields, as well as shape a mindset to always contribute to the medicine and healthcare in Indonesia.

In order to advance technology in the respective fields, these research centers collaborate with various research and medical application centers in other countries. For instance, the Research and Healthcare Service of Medical Stem Cell Technology works in partnership with Leiden Medical Center in stem cell and transfusion medicine. This center is developing application of medical stem cell technology in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital including clinical test of peripheral blood stem cell implantation in case of acute myocardial infarct, conducted by cluster of cardiovascular and hematology. The FKUI six research and service centers also participate in integrated research activities to increase competitive advantage. The Research and Healthcare Service Center of Virology and Cancer Pathobiology carries out breast cancer stem cell research. Various research topics about Avian Influenza virus and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) are the proof of the centers’ awareness to various public healthcare problems in Indonesia.
