Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutic

General Information

The growth of pharmacology as a discipline of science is not only limited by the discovery and development of new drug, but also includes biologic systemic review down to molecular or subcellular level. This development obviously has contributed valuable roles in general advancement of medicine. However, this also may cause distance between concept as well as therotical knowledge of pharmacology and method of drug review in relation with treatment in human.

Based on this development, clinical pharmacology that specialize in review and application of drug to the patient is established. In Indonesia, clinical pharmacology contributes in the efforts to improve the degree of public health, as indicated in the National Healthcare System, throughgh the rationality of drug usage so that public is protected from loss and danger of inappropriate drug usage.

Department Pharmacology and Therapeutic, one of the 13 pre-clinic departments in FKUI, also feels the need to develop especially to compete with the swift changes in Pharmacology field. The increase in number of students from year to year has demanded more responsibilities from the academic staff to perform better in both teaching and research.

This department is currently headed by dr. Nafrialdi, PhD, SpPD, SpFK
