Department of Medical Physics

General Information

Medical Physics Department plays an important role in preparing future medical doctors and to embrace technological advancement in facing the industry 4.0 era. This department is focusing on medical technology application in addition to physics as the basic underlying science for its development.

Education

In the undergraduate medical education program, Medical Physics Department is actively involved in modules and courses that are closely related to physics of human body as well as the medical technology application, such as Basic Biomedical Science, Neurosciences, Special Senses, Respiration, Cardiovascular, Musculoskeletal, and Research (Good Clinical Practices for Medical Devices) Modules. This department also offers two electives: Medical Techno-Sociopreneurship and Artificial Organ and Physiological Engineering. In addition to undergraduate program, this department actively participates in lectures and research of Biomedical Science Master and Doctoral Programs as well as in the clinical residency programs.

Research and Community Service

This department is conducting interdisciplinary researches that bridge between medical science and engineering. Side-by-side with the Medical Technology Cluster IMERI, this department is focused on multiple research areas, as follows:

  • Auditory Neuroscience/Biomedical Signal Analysis
  • Medical Device Fabrication and Instrumentation
  • Clinical Trials for Medical Device (CUKAKB)
  • Health IT
  • Biomechanics and Motion Analysis
  • Biomaterials
  • Technology Enhanced Learning in medical education

In community services, this department is focused on supporting the government’s policy on accelerating the medical industry development.

Medical Physics Department has many internal collaborators within the Faculty of Medicine (preclinic and clinic departments) and the Academic Health System (AHS UI) network, as well as external collaborators, such as Hannover Medical School, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia, Ministry of Health (General Directorate of Pharmacies and Medical Devices), and many more.
